This article contains lore based on real-life sources from Norse and Celtic Mythology as introduced in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

The gate to Helheim divides the living from the dead. Is that the face of Hela, herself? The half-rotten goddess that rules over Helheim? Whatever horrors lie behind that door, she must find him.
Listen to me Senua, the goddess Hela lies behind the gate to Helheim. To open the gate, you must first face the gods that guard it. The god of fire, Surt, and the god of illusion, Valravn. Spill their blood to open the gate and enter the land of the dead..

The Gate to Helheim is the gate that divide the living from the dead.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice[]

After traversing the hidden path, Senua finds the gate to Helheim. To open the gate, Senua must defeat the god of fire, Surtr, and the god of illusions, Valravn , in their domains to obtain their marks that grant access to the gate to the land of the dead.

After defeating the two gods who protect the respective gate and obtaining their marks, Senua opens it and observes only the darkness around her. At the same moment, a flashback is shown to when Senua returns from the woods to her village, and how the Northmen massacred and plundered her people, at the same time as she laments walking towards the body of Dillion.
